Uamsajeok Park is widely known as the ancient meditation site of the renowned Confucian scholar, “Uam (pen name) Song Si-yeol” (1607-1689). As such, it houses several buildings used by and dedicated to the scholar, including: Namganjeongsa (academy of Uam Song Si-yeol), Gigukjeong Pavilion, and Songjadaejeonpan (a collection of the written works of Uam Song Si-yeol).
Dongchundang Park was once the residence of Song Jung-gil, a noted politician from ancient times. Built in 1653, the park’s Dongchundang Residential Compound (Treasure No. 209) has kept some of its original features including its three ponds, pavilions, old swings, and the nameplate written by Uam Song Si-yeol in 1678 in honor of Song Jung-gil.
Ppuri Park is a park situated between Bomunsan Mt. and Banghwasan Mt. Boasting beautiful scenery, it is a park created under the theme of filial piety, one of the overriding values of Korean society. Opened on November 1, 1997, the park occupies a plot of land measuring 109,091 m² and is filled with unique sculptures and art pieces that remind visitors of their family ties. The sculptures at the park hold a special meaning for Koreas, as each of the 136 sculptures represents each of the different last names of Korea.
Forest Walk in Gyejok Mountain You can breathe a refreshing aura in your bare feet and you can also enjoy the panoramic view of Daejeon City from Gyeongjangsan Castle from the Three Kingdoms era. It is a place where you can experience what nature has to offer.
Daecheongho Natural Ecology Center The Daecheongho Natural Ecology Center in Chu-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon highlights the natural ecosystem of the Daecheongho Lake, which was created by the damming of Geumgang River in 1980. Daecheongho Lake is the third largest lake in Korea and boasts a reservoir measuring a surface area of 72.8 square kilometers, a circumference of 80 kilometers, and a capacity of 1.5 billion tons of water.
Daechengho Waterfront park This Park is a tourist attraction; in particular, it is a famous spot for ecotourism as it is filled with reeds and has been designated as a wetland conservation area with high conservation value. Indeed, it is a natural attraction worth checking out.
Daejeon Modern and Contemporary History Exhibition Hall the Chungcheongnam-do Office is housed in the old Chungnam Province Government Complex (Registered Cultural Property No.18), Korea's representative modern cultural heritage, where you can feel the history and development of Daejeon and the various aspects of the original downtown area. Indeed, there are various exhibitions about history, architecture, design and folklore held in this cultural space where diverse educational, cultural programs and concerts take place.
Official Residence a hamlet It is the only custody village in Daejeon, which houses a collection of japanese style oaks for Japanese high officials in the 1930s-1940s. It is formed in the vicinity of the Tami Hill in Daeheung-dong, and the shape, construction materials and arrangement of each article are the same.
Daeheungdong Culture Road To the city travelers, Daeheung-dong Cultural Street is like a treasure house full of fun elements. There are buildings and cafes where you can enjoy the sophisticated urban image, and the breathtaking scenery that reminds you of the nostalgia of the 70s and 80s. There are performances in the small theater, and the old buildings in old alleys are decorated with large murals and exude vintage charm. There is no place as good as Daeheung-dong Cultural Street to feel the harmony of old and new.
Eunhaengdong Euneungjeongi Culture Street Skyroad, which shows the status of the high-tech science city, is a very large LED video arcade structure with a length of 214m, a width of 13.3m and a height of 20m. The video that is emitted from the LED screen is a feast of light to overwhelm the crowd. This street is the fashion epicenter of Daejeon and is comparable to the famed Myeongdong shopping district in Seoul. Packed with plenty of things to see, eat and enjoy, the street is bursting with the lively vigor of the street's young shoppers.
SkyRoad is also used for an event for citizens and various cultural events. The Rio World Cup relay and Pope's mass relay took place here so that citizens could enjoy them together in one place; dance events happening thanks to the policy of streets without cars are always crowded with a lot of people. Indeed, Skyroad is a venue for festivals and events combining performances, exhibitions, and street performances.
